WHEREAS, the 45th annual meeting of the American Society of Mammalogists, held at the Fort Garry Hotel, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, 20-24 June 1965, has been a most enlightening and enjoyable occasion; and
WHEREAS, the success of this meeting, the second in the history of the Society to be held in Canada, has been greatly enhanced by the incomparable hospitality and inspiring example of community cooperation and spirit; and
WHEREAS, certain arrangements contributing to the excellent conduct of the meeting have been made through the magnanimous assistance of the Manitoba Department of Mines and Natural Resources, the Winnipeg City Council, the University of Manitoba, the Canada Department of Forestry, the Canadian Wildlife Service, the Metropolitan Corporation of Greater Winnipeg, Carlings Conservation Club, the Manitoba Museum, T. Eaton Company, Hudson's Bay Company, Winnipeg Zoological Society, Monarch Life Assurance Company, the Transair Corporation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; and
WHEREAS, a diligent and devoted local committee of scientists and citizens, under the chairmanship of Dr. Charles H. Buckner, has, through unstinted attention to all details of the meeting, contrived a most happy blend of culture, efficiency and hospitality throughout the entire period;
