WHEREAS, the 47th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Mammalogists, meeting at the Carolinian Hotel, Nags Head, North Carolina, has been a memorable and profitable occasion; and
WHEREAS, the success of this meeting has been the result of a pleasurable blend of academic enrichment, social conviviality, and friendly togetherness, set in a locale of exquisite beauty steeped in historical lore and tradition; and
WHEREAS, the spirit of true southern hospitality has prevailed because of the efforts of the local committee, friends at North Carolina State University, and numerous clubs, firms, and organizations throughout North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, the management of the Carolinian Hotel has been concerned with our every need, especially Julian Oneto, Lucille Winslow, and their entire staff; and
WHEREAS, the entertainment of our wives and children has been the concern of a devoted and dedicated group, especially Joan Barkalow;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the sincere appreciation, gratitude, and heartfelt thanks of the American Society of Mammalogists are extended to the local committee, and especially to Dr. Fred S. Barkalow, for its efficient organization, attention to detail, and warm hospitality that has contributed so markedly to the success of this meeting, long to be remembered by the delegates in attendance.
