WHEREAS, the forty-ninth annual meeting of the American Society of Mammalogists, convened June 15 to June 21, 1969 at the American Museum of Natural History has been characterized by pleasant associations and profitable sessions; and
WHEREAS, the occasion of our meetings marks the Fiftieth Anniversary of the founding of the American Society of Mammalogists and the One Hundredth Anniversary of the founding of our host, the American Museum of Natural History; and
WHEREAS, the entire facilities of the American Museum have been placed at our disposal by Dr. James A. Oliver, Director; and
WHEREAS, the following departments and individuals of the American Museum of Natural History have provided outstanding services and assistance and contributed in countless ways to our successful meeting: Dr. Thomas D. Nicholson, Deputy Director and Chairman of the Centennial Committee; the American Museum of Natural History's Women's Committee; Department of Education, Dr. Richard Casebeer, Chairman; Library, Mr. Thomas Basler, Chairman; Hayden Planetarium, Dr. Franklyn Branley, Chairman; Department of Public Relations, Mr. Roberto Rendueles, Manager; Projection Division, Mr. Joseph G. Abruzzo, Manager; Custodial Services, Mr. Philip C. Miller, Custodian; Office Services Division, Mr. Lambert Pintner, Manager; Guest Services, Miss Anne Montgomery, Manager; and also the secretaries, technicians and friends of the Department of Mammalogy and Archbold Expeditions, including Nylene Gilbert, Janice Pocsi, Ethel Smith, Edward Hawkins, Robert Coull, Jean Augustin, Helmut Sommer, Steven Medina, John Douglass, Polly Shaheen, Marc Halpern, Mark Presser, Margareta Becker, and Barry Koffler; and
WHEREAS, Dr. William G. Conway, Director, has placed the facilities of the New York Zoological Society at our disposal for our pleasure, enjoyment and enlightenment and has contributed in many ways to the success of our meeting; and
WHEREAS, Jonker Corporation contributed to our pleasure and enjoyment by supporting the Smoker; and
WHEREAS, the Local Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. Richard Van Gelder has provided unexcelled arrangements based on careful planning and attention to detail;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the American Society of Mammalogists extends to all the above, as well as to other unnamed individuals, its heartfelt thanks and most sincere appreciation for their efforts which have resulted in a meeting truly in keeping with the occasion of the 50th and 100th Anniversaries of the American Society of Mammalogists and the American Museum of Natural History respectively; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the American Society of Mammalogists extends a special vote of thanks to S. Anderson, J. Davis, E. Fryatt, K. F. Koopman, G. G. Musser, H. M. Van Deusen and R. G. Van Gelder for their devoted efforts which have made its 49thannual meeting an outstanding success.
