WHEREAS, the 64th annual meeting of the American Society of Mammalogists was held at Humboldt State University on 24-28 June 1984; and
WHEREAS, Humboldt hospitality included equal measures of seaside mist and Canadian Mist; and
WHEREAS, the local climate provided a preview of Southern Hemisphere Winter to those riding the Humboldt Current to Australia; and
WHEREAS, the intellectual stimulation of 260 papers was matched by the physical challenge of rappeling up and down cardiac hill for every meal; and
WHEREAS, we spent an intoxicating week in the atmosphere of the world's largest organisms, including redwoods, whales, and Jolly Giants,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the American Society of Mammalogists extends its enthusiastic appreciation to Humboldt State University, the Local Committee, and especially to our colleagues Tim Lawlor and Dave Kitchen.
