Rain forest of W Africa in Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Togo; C Africa in SE Cameroon, Central African Republic, Dem. Rep. Congo, NE Gabon, Republic of Congo, SW Sudan, Uganda (extinct); and in S Kenya. Occurrence in Equatorial Guinea (Mbini) questionable.
