Geographic Distribution
Mountains of N and NE Iran (from southern foothills of Elburz Mtns in Semnan Prov. near Semnan and adjacent Sang-i-sar eastward through N Khorasan Prov. in NE Iran to the Mashhad region), SW and S Turkmenistan (from Little Balkhan Mtn east through the Kopet Dag Mtns to east of the Tedzhen River), and NW Afghanistan (Herat Prov.).
