Southern Africa in E Angola, N Botswana, Mozambique (extinct), NE Namibia, South Africa (extinct in Northern Cape, North-West, and Mpumalanga Provs., and N KwaZulu-Natal; survives in E Limpopo Prov.; reintroduced within former range), Swaziland (extinct; reintroduced), W Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
